King CurtisKing Curtis, born Curtis Montgomery on February 7, 1934, was an influential American saxophonist and bandleader known for his work in rhythm and blues, jazz, and rock and roll. Active from the 1950s until his untimely death in 1971, he gained prominence as a session musician and recorded notable hits such as "Soul Twist," "Respect," and "Memphis Soul Stew."
