The Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington Railroad (PB&W) was an American Class I railroad operating from 1902 until 1976 across Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. It was a vital part of the Pennsylvania Railroad system, featuring a 131-mile main line between Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., which is now part of Amtrak's Northeast Corridor. The PB&W acquired several rail companies over its operational years and underwent electrification, completing this process by 1935. Following the Penn Central Railroad's bankruptcy in 1970, the PB&W's right-of-way and other assets were sold to Amtrak and Conrail in 1976.
