Mendes Sergio & Brasil '65 '66 '77

Sérgio Mendes (1941–2024) was a prominent Brazilian musician known for his influential role in popularizing bossa nova and Latin jazz, particularly in the United States. He gained fame in the 1960s with his group Brasil '66, achieving major hits like "Mas que Nada" and receiving an Oscar nomination for "Real in Rio" in 2012. Over his career, he released 35 albums and collaborated with various artists, including the Black Eyed Peas. Mendes was a key figure in introducing Brazilian rhythms to mainstream music before his death from complications of long COVID in September 2024.
