Diahann CarrollDiahann Carroll (1935–2019) was an accomplished American actress, singer, and model, notable for her groundbreaking roles in film and television, particularly as the first African-American woman to star in a major TV series, Julia (1968–1971). Her career, spanning over six decades, included a Tony Award win for No Strings (1962), a Golden Globe for Julia, and an Academy Award nomination for Claudine (1974). Carroll's contributions to the arts and her activism made her a prominent figure in the fight for representation and equality in the entertainment industry before her passing at age 84.
