Cy Walter

Cy Walter, born Cyril Frank Walter on September 16, 1915, in Minneapolis, was an influential American café society pianist known for his extensive repertoire focused on show tunes and his improvisational talent. Active primarily in New York City from the 1930s until his death in 1968, he gained acclaim for performances at prestigious venues like the Drake Hotel and collaborated with prominent vocalists including Mabel Mercer and Greta Keller. Through a robust career in both radio and recording, Walter became a notable figure in the popular music and jazz scenes, often referred to as the "Art Tatum of Park Avenue."
