Gilbert Bécaud

Gilbert Bécaud (1927–2001), born François Gilbert Léopold Silly, was a renowned French singer, composer, pianist, and actor, popularly known as "Monsieur 100,000 Volts" for his dynamic performances. Active from the late 1940s until his death, he produced numerous hits, including "Nathalie" and "Et maintenant," and became a prominent figure in French music, particularly at the Paris Olympia. His career spanned nearly fifty years, during which he also ventured into acting and collaborated with various international artists. Bécaud's influence remains significant in contemporary French music, and his extensive catalog features around 450 songs. He died of cancer at age 74.
