Connie SmithConnie Smith, born Constance June Meador on August 14, 1941, is a prominent American country music singer and songwriter whose contralto vocals have significantly influenced female artists in the genre. Rising to fame in the 1960s with her debut single "Once a Day," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, she became known for her powerful voice and emotive performances. Over her career, Smith has recorded numerous hits, garnered multiple Grammy nominations, and has been recognized as one of the greatest women in country music, culminating in her induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2012.
