Esco HankinsJ. Frank Norris (1877–1952) was an influential American Baptist preacher and a significant figure in the fundamentalist movement during the early 20th century. Known for his controversial stance against modernism and evolution, he served as the pastor of the First Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, for over four decades and also led Temple Baptist Church in Detroit. Norris gained notoriety for his fiery sermons, involvement in significant legal battles, and a murder trial in 1926, wherein he was acquitted of killing a man in his church office.
