Lincoln Chase

Lincoln R. Chase (June 29, 1926 – October 6, 1980) was an American songwriter and occasional recording artist known for several hit songs, including "Such a Night" and "Jim Dandy." Active primarily from the early 1950s to the early 1970s, Chase collaborated with Shirley Ellis on multiple successful tracks during the 1960s, notably "The Name Game" and "The Clapping Song." While he initially struggled as a recording artist, his songwriting achievements established him in the pop and R&B genres of that era. He passed away in Atlanta at the age of 54.
