The Sweet Inspirations

The Sweet Inspirations are an American R&B vocal group formed in 1967 in Newark, New Jersey, originally founded by Cissy Houston. Primarily recognized for their role as backup singers for notable artists such as Aretha Franklin and Elvis Presley, they also gained notoriety for their own recordings, including the Grammy-nominated hit "Sweet Inspiration." The group remained active into the present, with a legacy marked by their influential contributions to soul and R&B music, as well as their 2014 induction into the National Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame.
