Luther Henderson

Luther Henderson (1919–2003) was an American arranger, composer, orchestrator, and pianist renowned for his significant contributions to Broadway musicals and jazz. Born in Kansas City and educated at Juilliard, he collaborated with prominent figures such as Duke Ellington and Lena Horne, orchestrating over fifty Broadway productions, including "Jelly's Last Jam" and "Ain't Misbehavin'." His talents extended to television and recordings, earning nominations for Tony and Emmy Awards. Posthumously recognized with a Jazz Masters Award from the National Endowment for the Arts, Henderson left a lasting legacy in American music before his death in 2003.
