Maria Cole

Maria Cole (née Hawkins; 1922–2012) was an American jazz singer and the wife of famous musician Nat King Cole, as well as the mother of singer Natalie Cole. Active from 1936 to 1955, Cole performed with notable figures like Count Basie and Duke Ellington, and co-hosted a talk show in the 1960s. She married Nat King Cole in 1948 and had five children. After his death in 1965, she raised her family in Massachusetts and later remarried. Maria Cole passed away at age 89 after being diagnosed with cancer.
