Lem Winchester

Lem Winchester (1928–1961) was an American jazz vibraphone player known for his brief but impactful career. Originally a police officer, he transitioned to music after performing at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival and recorded several albums primarily with Prestige Records, collaborating with notable jazz artists. His career was cut short when he died accidentally at the age of 32 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
