Teddy Wilson

Teddy Wilson (1912–1986) was an American jazz pianist renowned for his gentle and elegant playing style, which greatly influenced the swing era of jazz. He gained prominence in the 1930s as a prominent member of the Benny Goodman Trio, becoming one of the first Black musicians to perform in a racially integrated band. Wilson's extensive career included collaborations with jazz legends such as Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, and Ella Fitzgerald, alongside leading his own groups. He contributed significantly to jazz through his innovative piano techniques and was educated at the Juilliard School, where he taught from 1945 to 1952. Wilson is remembered as a pivotal figure in the evolution of jazz piano.
