Don Wilkerson

David Ray Wilkerson (1931–2011) was an influential American Christian evangelist, recognized for founding Teen Challenge, an addiction recovery program, and for establishing Times Square Church in New York City. He gained widespread acclaim with his 1962 book, The Cross and the Switchblade, which detailed his street ministry to drug addicts and gang members in New York, and has sold over 50 million copies. Throughout his ministry, he emphasized personal relationship with Jesus Christ and avoidance of denominational divisions in faith. Wilkerson's work and writings had a significant impact on evangelical movements, and he remained active in ministry until his death in 2011.
