West Speedy And Jimmy Bryant

Speedy West, born Wesley Webb West on January 25, 1924, was an influential American pedal steel guitarist and record producer known for his work during the mid-20th century. He gained prominence through his collaborations with guitarist Jimmy Bryant and played a crucial role in the country music scene, contributing to over 6,000 recordings for artists like Frank Sinatra and producing Loretta Lynn's first single. Notably, West was the first country steel guitarist to adopt the pedal steel guitar, which shaped the sound of the genre and influenced many musicians in Nashville. He continued to engage with the music community despite losing the ability to play after a stroke in 1981, passing away on November 15, 2003.
