Clark Terry

Clark Terry (1920–2015) was an influential American swing and bebop trumpeter known for his pioneering use of the flugelhorn in jazz. Active from the 1940s to 2015, he performed with prominent ensembles, including those led by Count Basie and Duke Ellington, and was a long-time member of The Tonight Show Band. Over his prolific career, Terry made significant contributions as a composer and educator, mentoring numerous future jazz stars, and was celebrated for his improvisational skills and playful spirit. He also recorded extensively and his work has earned him several accolades, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
