Otis SpannOtis Spann (circa 1924–1970) was a prominent American blues pianist, regarded as a leading figure in postwar Chicago blues. Born in Mississippi, he moved to Chicago in 1946 and became Muddy Waters' pianist, contributing to many of Waters' iconic songs. Spann had a notable solo career and collaborated with various influential musicians, recording extensively through the 1960s. His music garnered acclaim, and he was posthumously inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1980, leaving a lasting legacy in the blues genre before his death from liver cancer in Chicago.
