St. Claire Betty

Jubilee Records was an American independent record label founded in 1946 in New York City, known for its rhythm and blues and novelty music. It gained prominence by being the first independent label to commercially succeed with a black vocal group, the Orioles, whose song "Crying in the Chapel" reached the Top Twenty on the Pop chart in 1953. The label produced several notable hits until it was sold in 1970 amid financial difficulties, ultimately declaring bankruptcy in 1971. Its music catalog is now owned by Warner Music Group.
