Charlie Persip

Charlie Persip, also known as Charli Persip, was an influential American jazz drummer born on July 26, 1929, in Morristown, New Jersey, and he passed away on August 23, 2020, in New York City. Active from 1945 to 2010, he gained recognition in the jazz world for his work with prominent artists such as Dizzy Gillespie, Harry Edison, and Sonny Rollins, contributing to numerous classic recordings. Beyond performance, Persip was dedicated to music education, teaching at institutions like Jazzmobile and the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. His contributions were significant in both jazz performance and education throughout several decades.
