Whitey Mitchell

Whitey Mitchell (February 22, 1932 – January 16, 2009) was an American jazz bassist and television writer/producer, noted for his contributions to the jazz scene in New York and his later successful career in television. Originally from Hackensack, New Jersey, Mitchell played with prominent jazz figures and participated in significant recordings while also leading his own groups. After transitioning to Hollywood in the 1960s, he wrote for popular TV shows like All in the Family and The Jeffersons, and taught screenwriting at UCLA. He remained active in music and wrote two books, ultimately receiving a Golden Palm Star for his achievements in entertainment.
