Elliot Lawrence

Elliot Lawrence (1925–2021) was an influential American jazz pianist and bandleader, notable for his contributions to music from the 1940s until his passing. Born in Philadelphia, he achieved recognition as a bandleader and made his mark in the big band era, while later transitioning to Broadway, winning a Tony Award for "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" in 1962. Throughout his career, Lawrence served as music director for significant events, including the Tony Awards from 1965 to 2011, and earned nine Emmy Awards for his work in television. He also composed music for films such as "Network" and "The French Connection."
