Nellie Lutcher

Nellie Lutcher (1912–2007) was an American R&B and jazz singer and pianist known for her unique diction and style, which influenced artists like Nina Simone. Rising to prominence in the late 1940s, she achieved commercial success with hits such as "Hurry On Down" and "He's A Real Gone Guy," maintaining ownership of her publishing rights, a rarity for artists at the time. Over her career, she toured widely and recorded with notable musicians, but her popularity declined in the 1950s, leading to a reduced performance schedule. Lutcher passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 94.
