Furry LewisFurry Lewis, born Walter E. Lewis in either 1893 or 1899 in Greenwood, Mississippi, was a notable American country blues guitarist and songwriter from Memphis, Tennessee. Active primarily in the late 1920s, he was one of the first blues musicians to gain recognition during the folk blues revival of the 1960s, recording albums and opening for major acts like the Rolling Stones. Despite losing a leg in an accident in 1916, Lewis continued his musical career, influencing the blues genre until his death in 1981. His work has been recognized through numerous recordings and references in popular culture, including a song by Joni Mitchell. (Source: Wikipedia)
