Slide HamptonSlide Hampton (1932–2021) was an American jazz trombonist, composer, and arranger known for his distinctive left-handed playing style. Born in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, he gained recognition by performing with notable bands such as the Lionel Hampton Band and Maynard Ferguson’s band. Throughout his career, he also created original compositions and arrangements for various ensembles, receiving multiple Grammy Awards and accolades including the NEA Jazz Masters Award.
