Argo Records was an American record label based in Chicago, founded in 1955 as a division of Chess Records and active until its renaming in 1965. Primarily focused on jazz, it also recorded blues and pop, featuring notable artists like Etta James and Ramsey Lewis. The label gained prominence with its early hit "Ain't Got No Home" by Clarence "Frogman" Henry and became a significant contributor to the jazz genre during its operation, boasting influential releases before becoming inactive and transitioning to Cadet Records. Its catalog is currently part of Universal Music Group.
