Johnny GriffinJohnny Griffin (1928–2008) was an American jazz tenor saxophonist known as "the Little Giant" due to his short stature and powerful playing style. Emerging in the mid-1940s, he became a key figure in hard bop, collaborating with prominent musicians like Thelonious Monk and Art Blakey while leading numerous recordings. After relocating to Europe in the 1960s, he continued to perform extensively, influencing the jazz scene until his passing at age 80.
