Red Garland

William McKinley "Red" Garland Jr. (1923–1984) was an influential American modern jazz pianist, renowned for his distinctive block chord style. He gained prominence in the 1950s as a member of the Miles Davis Quintet, contributing to several foundational jazz albums. Following his tenure with Davis, Garland led his own trio and recorded extensively, producing 25 albums primarily for Prestige Records and exploring various jazz styles. His career fluctuated with the popularity of rock music but saw a resurgence in the 1970s. Garland's work is celebrated for emotional depth and artistic integrity, leaving a significant legacy in the jazz genre.
