Lefty FrizzellLefty Frizzell was a prominent American country and honky-tonk singer-songwriter, known for his influential vocal style and impactful songwriting, active from 1942 until his untimely death in 1975. Born in Corsicana, Texas, on March 31, 1928, he achieved significant success in the 1950s with numerous Top 10 hits, including "If You've Got the Money (I've Got the Time)" and "Saginaw, Michigan." His contributions greatly influenced later artists like George Jones and Merle Haggard. Frizzell's struggles with alcoholism affected his career, culminating in his death from a stroke at age 47.
