Wally Fowler

John Wallace "Wally" Fowler (1917–1994) was an influential American Southern gospel singer, songwriter, and promoter, known for founding the Oak Ridge Quartet, which evolved into the Oak Ridge Boys. Active from 1935 to the 1980s, he was pivotal in popularizing all-night gospel sings and is recognized for his enduring song "Wasted Years." Throughout his career, Fowler also hosted a television show and was a prominent figure in gospel music on various radio platforms. His contributions to the genre earned him the titles "The Man with a Million Friends" and "Mr. Gospel Music." He passed away from a heart attack while fishing in 1994.
