Jimmy Dorsey

The Dorsey Brothers were an American jazz band formed in 1928, led by siblings Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey. Initially a studio dance band, they gained prominence in the 1930s with chart-topping hits such as "Lullaby of Broadway." The brothers' professional relationship was marked by tension, leading to Tommy's departure in 1935 to lead his own band. They later reunited for special performances and television appearances, becoming influential figures in the music industry until their deaths in the 1950s. Their legacy includes a commemorative postage stamp issued in 1996 by the U.S. Postal Service.
