Eric DolphyEric Dolphy (1928–1964) was a prominent American jazz multi-instrumentalist, known for his innovative work primarily as an alto saxophonist, bass clarinetist, and flautist. He was a key figure in the avant-garde jazz movement and contributed significantly to the integration of the bass clarinet and flute into jazz, expanding their roles as solo instruments. Dolphy collaborated with notable musicians, including Charles Mingus and John Coltrane, and is best remembered for his album "Out to Lunch!", considered a landmark in modern jazz before his untimely death in Berlin from complications related to undiagnosed diabetes.
