Skeeter Davis

Skeeter Davis, born Mary Frances Penick on December 30, 1931, was an influential American country music singer-songwriter active from the late 1940s until 2002. Rising to fame as part of the Davis Sisters, she transitioned to a successful solo career in the late 1950s, noted for her crossover hits like "The End of the World," which became her signature song in 1963. Recognized as one of the first female country artists to achieve major stardom, her impact extended into pop music, earning acclaim and multiple Grammy nominations throughout her career until her death in 2004.
