Dale Dick & His Deltones

Dick Dale, born Richard Anthony Monsour on May 4, 1937, was an American surf rock guitarist renowned for pioneering surf music and known as "The King of the Surf Guitar." He innovated guitar techniques like tremolo picking and created a signature sound by blending Middle Eastern music scales with heavy reverb, influencing many famous musicians including Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen. Dale's iconic performances in the early 1960s solidified his role in establishing surf music's popularity, with hits like "Miserlou" gaining renewed recognition through Quentin Tarantino's 1994 film Pulp Fiction. He passed away on March 16, 2019, leaving behind a significant musical legacy.
