Teddy Charles

Teddy Charles, born Theodore Charles Cohen on April 13, 1928, was an influential American jazz musician and composer known for his work with the vibraphone, piano, and drums. Active primarily in the 1950s, he was recognized for his innovative contributions to jazz, including polytonal albums and collaborations with prominent artists, as well as his role as a record producer. Charles recorded extensively during his career and co-led the Prestige Jazz Quartet, with notable works including "New Directions" and “Collaboration: West.” He died on April 16, 2012, at the age of 84.
