Scatman Crothers

Scatman Crothers (1910-1986) was an American actor and musician recognized for his roles in television and film, notably as Louie the Garbage Man on "Chico and the Man" and Dick Hallorann in "The Shining." He had a prolific voice acting career, voicing characters such as Jazz the Autobot in "The Transformers" and Scat Cat in Disney's "The Aristocats." With origins in music, Crothers began performing in the 1920s and became the first Black regular on a Los Angeles television show. His career spanned from the 1920s until his death, and he was posthumously inducted into the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame.
