Spade Cooley

Spade Cooley's Western Swing Song Folio, published in 1945, was the first songbook to officially designate and promote Western dance band music as Western Swing. Co-written by Spade Cooley and Smokey Rogers, it includes 25 original tunes and an accompanying album, contributing significantly to the popularization of the genre during the mid-20th century.
