Kenny Burrell

Kenny Burrell, born July 31, 1931, is an American jazz guitarist celebrated for his contributions to prominent jazz labels such as Blue Note and Verve. Notable for his collaborations with organist Jimmy Smith, Burrell achieved success with the album "Organ Grinder Swing," which became a Billboard hit. An influential figure in jazz education, he has served as Director of Jazz Studies at UCLA since 1996, mentoring future musicians. His prolific recording career, which began in the early 1950s, includes acclaimed works like "Midnight Blue" and "Guitar Forms," and he has received numerous accolades, including the NEA Jazz Master award and a Grammy for his work with Dee Dee Bridgewater.
