Ralph Burns

Ralph Burns (1922–2001) was an American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger renowned for his influential work in jazz and Broadway music. Active from 1939 to the early 1990s, he gained prominence as a key member of Woody Herman's band, contributing to many of their major hits, and later made significant contributions to film scores, earning multiple Academy Awards and a Tony Award for Best Orchestrations. Burns collaborated with various prominent artists throughout his career and left a lasting impact on the jazz and musical theater landscapes before his death in Los Angeles.
