Luiz Bonfa

Luiz Bonfá (1922–2001) was a prominent Brazilian guitarist and composer, best known for his contributions to the bossa nova genre and for composing music for the film "Black Orpheus," including the celebrated piece "Manhã de Carnaval." Emerging in the 1940s, he played a key role in popularizing Brazilian jazz internationally and collaborated with notable artists like Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes. With a career spanning over five decades, Bonfá's distinctive guitar style and compositions remain influential in Brazilian music. He passed away in Rio de Janeiro in 2001.
