Charles Bell

Sir Charles Bell (1774–1842) was a prominent Scottish surgeon, anatomist, and neurologist known for his significant contributions to the understanding of the human nervous system, including the differentiation between sensory and motor nerves and the identification of Bell's palsy. A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, he established his career in anatomy and surgery in London and later became the first Professor of Surgery at the University of Edinburgh. Besides his medical achievements, Bell was an accomplished artist and authored influential works that combined his anatomical knowledge with artistic representation, leaving a lasting legacy in both medicine and the arts.
