Roy Ayers

Roy E. Ayers (1882-1955) was an American lawyer and Democratic politician who served as the 11th Governor of Montana from 1937 to 1941 and as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Montana's 2nd district from 1933 to 1937. Notably, he was the first governor born in Montana and played a significant role in expanding the state bureaucracy and eliminating the state deficit during his administration, although his tenure was marred by allegations of misconduct related to state resources. After losing his re-election campaign in 1940, Ayers returned to ranching until his death.
