Allen Henry "Red"Henry James "Red" Allen Jr. (1908–1967) was an influential American jazz trumpeter and vocalist, recognized for incorporating innovations from Louis Armstrong into his playing style. Active from the 1920s to the 1960s, Allen performed with notable bands like King Oliver's and Fletcher Henderson's orchestras and had a successful solo career, recording extensively and leading his own groups. His work garnered acclaim in both traditional and modern jazz categories, and he was honored posthumously with a street named after him in New Orleans in 2022.
