Roy Smeck

Roy Smeck (1900–1994) was an American musician famed for his exceptional abilities on the banjo, guitar, and ukulele, earning the nickname "The Wizard of the Strings." Active from the 1920s to the 1950s, he gained fame through vaudeville performances, radio shows, and early films, becoming a notable figure in the music industry with over 500 recordings. Smeck was recognized for his innovative playing techniques and contributions to musical instruments, particularly through his endorsement of the Vita-Uke. He was posthumously inducted into the Ukulele Hall of Fame in 1998 and the National Four-String Banjo Hall of Fame in 2001.
