Charlie Parker

Charlie Parker (1920–1955), known as "Bird," was an American jazz saxophonist and an influential figure in the development of bebop, a jazz style marked by rapid tempos and intricate harmonies. Primarily playing the alto saxophone, Parker introduced innovative rhythmic and harmonic concepts and was pivotal in shaping the genre during the 1940s. His music not only garnered acclaim but also established him as an icon within the hipster subculture and the Beat Generation. Despite facing personal challenges, including struggles with addiction, Parker's compositions and performances left a lasting impact on jazz music. He died at the age of 34 in New York City.
