Georgie Auld

Georgie Auld (1919–1990) was a Canadian jazz tenor saxophonist, clarinetist, and bandleader, known for his work primarily during the 1940s to 1970s. Born John Altwerger in Toronto, he moved to Brooklyn as a child and became a self-taught musician. Auld gained recognition for his performances with notable big bands and artists, including Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw, and he also acted in Broadway and film productions. He is remembered for his robust style and significant contributions to jazz music. Auld passed away in Palm Springs, California, at the age of 70.
