Dave Brubeck (1920–2012) was an influential American jazz pianist and composer, recognized for his role in the cool jazz movement. He is best known for forming the Dave Brubeck Quartet in 1951, which achieved widespread acclaim with the 1959 album "Time Out," notable for its innovative use of unusual time signatures. His most famous piece, "Take Five," became a jazz standard and contributed to Brubeck’s legacy as one of jazz's first pop stars. Throughout his career, he integrated classical and jazz elements, earning numerous awards, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and leaving a lasting impact on the genre.
